傅正擎。美国南卡罗莱纳大学生物系副教授。南京农业大学和夏威夷大学硕士毕业。2008年在美国内布拉斯加大学获得博士学位。2008至2013年在杜克大学从事博士后研究。以第一作者身份发表Nature Articles两篇。在博士后研究期间发现并第一次报道植物五大激素之一水杨酸的受体 (Fu et al., 2012 Nature 486: 228-232)。 在美国内布拉斯加大学读博士期间第一次在植物或植物病原菌中发现单ADP-核糖基转移酶的活性 (Fu et al., 2007 Nature 447: 284-288)。以第一作者身份在Annual Review of Plant Biology杂志发表综述一篇。自从2013加入南卡罗莱纳大学以来以通讯作者身份在Cell Host & Microbe、Trends in Plant Science、Nature Plants、Science Advances和Molecular Plant上发表文章十一篇。2019年被评为南卡大学Breakthrough Star。

Abstract:
The plant hormone salicylic acid (SA) plays a vital role in defense against biotrophic and hemi-biotrophic pathogens. NPR1, as the master regulator of SA signaling and a receptor of SA, controls the expression of 98% of around 2800 SA-regulated genes. On the other hand, EDS1 has been shown to be essential for PAMP-triggered immunity, effector-triggered immunity, pathogen-induced SA accumulation, plant defense gene expression, and systemic acquired resistance. Early studies showed that EDS1 shares sequence homology and structural similarity to lipases. However, subsequent biochemical studies found no lipase activity in EDS1 protein. Despite its importance in almost every aspect of plant immunity, the molecular function of EDS1 remained elusive for more than twenty years. In my presentation, I will focus on two projects related to NPR1 and EDS1. First, I will show you how two interacting transcriptional coactivators cooperatively promote plant defense responses. In the second part of my talk, I will tell you a story on how plants coordinate growth and defense through key players in SA and brassinosteroid signaling pathways.
